Our Pastor

The Lord has recently brought Pastor Daniel, his wife Ginny, and his two daughters, Lydia and Charis, to Bogue Banks Baptist Church.

Pastor Daniel grew up in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, experiencing the beauty of the Ozark Mountains. He attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, earning a B.S. in Animal Science before the Lord placed him at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina where he earned both his MDiv and PhD.

Pastor Daniel served as the senior pastor of Plainview Baptist Church in Durham, NC for four and a half years before joining the congregation of Bogue Banks Baptist Church.

Though he spends a good portion of his time studying for sermons, Pastor Daniel finds great joy in relaxing at coffee shops while reading theology books. His favorite author is John Piper, and his favorite musicians are Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael Card.

Recently, Pastor Daniel’s dissertation was published: Deification and the Rule of Faith: The Communication of the Gospel in Hellenistic Culture.

STEPHEN BATH, born in Denver, Colorado, is married to Janice Donald Bath, formerly  of Pearl, Mississippi.  They are parents of Rachel, David, James Clayton, and Sarah Lauren and make their home in Newport.  He received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Starkville, MS.

Stephen (or Steve), the son of a pastor, grew up in New Orleans and Mississippi.  Following high school graduation in Port Gibson, MS, he earned a B.A. from Mississippi College and an M.R.E. from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a minor in music from each institution.  He was ordained to the gospel ministry by Port Gibson Baptist Church and served in several churches in Mississippi and Louisiana before coming to North Carolina.

Stephen has been serving Bogue Banks Baptist Church since October 2001.  He emphasizes a blended style of worship–using both contemporary praise and traditional hymns–and is thrilled with the fact that this is a church that loves to sing!  Stephen, Janice, and their children have come to love their church family here at Bogue Banks, and they enjoy both the beauty and climate of the coastal region.  Stephen’s hobbies include motorcycle riding, geo-caching, and spending time with his family.
